Etna volcano is sited on eastern side of Sicily island. Mount Etna volcano is one of the most active volcano on the Earth and the largest in continental Europe. Its base diameter extends about 60 km (36mile) and its height is about 3324 m (10.906 feet).  The origin of the name Etna may have been derived from the Phoenician word “athana” (furnace) or from the Greek and Latin verbs meaning to burn.
